Willow Smith, 22, has been awarded the first ever NFT music plaque by the Recording Industry Association of America. In recognition of her platinum achievements, she received a platinum single.

The plaque pays tribute to Willow's top four platinum-selling singles throughout her career, including "Whip My Hair" and "Transparent Soul", among others.

Importantly, the visual design of the plaque was created by Smith herself, in collaboration with her Roc Nation label and Infinite Objects. What's more, as Willow reaches new milestones in her career, the design will change.

"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to engage in the sacred process that is music. A BIG THANK YOU to the RIAA and Infinite Objects! I am so honoured to be able to celebrate these NFT milestones in such an innovative way," said Willow Smith.

Non-fungible tokens are growing in popularity among musicians, and the music industry is increasingly integrating NFT strategies and metavers with various initiatives. Earlier this month, DJ Steve Aoki launched a web3 music player called IDOL III, which features an organised mix of 12 tracks from Aoki's Dim Mak label.

In August 2022, world-famous rappers Snoop Dogg and Eminem released a music video themed 'Otherside', featuring footage from NFT's premium collection, Bored Ape Yacht Club.
